The HP Smart Update Firmware DVD provides a collection of firmware bundles containing HP SUM and firmware for ProLiant servers in an ISO image that can be used either in offline (automated or interactive mode), or online (a scripted or interactive mode) modes. The HP Smart Update Firmware DVD provides firmware for supported ProLiant servers and options. The Firmware DVD contains all the firmware for the supported ProLiant servers including BladeSystem enclosures and Virtual Connect firmware.
In offline mode, the Smart Update Firmware DVD boots a small Linux kernel and enables firmware updates to occur on a single server using HP SUM.
In online mode, users can leverage the
autorun
utility to launch HP SUM or browse the DVD to the\hp\swpackages
directory and then execute it directly.
All firmware smart components are placed in the \hp\swpackages
directory for use by HP
SUM. If additional firmware smart components are required, then the
HP Smart Update Firmware DVD can be copied to a USB key, and these
additional components added to the \hp\swpackages
directory.
IMPORTANT: Before deploying firmware updates to a target server, be sure that a recent backup of the target server is available in the event the deployment procedure fails. | |
