Test Tab
Insight Diagnostics provides the capability to test all the major pieces of hardware in the system. Test progress is displayed on the Status tab. Detailed test results are displayed on the Log tab. There are three types of tests:
- Quick Test - Provides a predetermined script where a sample of each hardware component is exercised.
- Complete Test - Provides a predetermined script where each hardware component is fully tested.
- Custom Test - Provides the most flexibility in controlling the testing of a system. The Custom Test mode allows the user to specifically select which devices, tests, and test parameters to run.
There are two different testing modes:
- Interactive - all tests run, some of which may require the user to respond to prompts
- Unattended - no user action is required, tests that require user action are not executed
Tests can be further configured and customized by using the following attributes:
- Number of Loops - specifies the number of test cycles to perform the selected tests
- Total Test Time - specifies the length of time given to conduct all selected tests
- Stop on First Error - specifies that all testing will stop when the first error is encountered
- Test Parameters - test parameters for each device are available in Custom testing
To begin testing:
- Select the Test tab
- Select the sub-tab of the Test Type to perform (Quick, Complete or Custom)
- Select the Test Mode (Interactive or Unattended)
- Choose how you want the test to be executed, either by a Number of Loops or by Total Test Time.
When choosing to run the test over a specified number of loops, enter the number of loops to perform. If you desire to have the diagnostic test for a specified time period, enter the amount of time in minutes.
NOTE: Testing will automatically stop, if one test loop has been completed, when the elapsed test time has reached the specified time limit.
- Select which devices (Quick and Complete tests) or which tests (Custom) to run
- Click on Begin Testing to start the test.
The Status tab will automatically become selected and the Test tab will be disabled until testing completes.
While tests are being performed, the user can monitor the progress in the Status tab. Any errors that are detected are summarized in the Error Log.
To view all test failure information, select the Error Log. To view the status of all testing that has been performed, select the Log tab.
Status Tab
The Status tab displays the status of the currently running Diagnose tests, currently running tests or the last run tests if applicable. Failure of the test is indicated by red colored progress bar and test pass is indicated by green color.
Test Status
Test Status shows main progress bar which displays the percent complete of the current set of tests as well as duration information. A table below the progress bar displays statistics for each individual device. Tests in progress can be cancelled by pressing the Cancel button.
Note: Due to the nature of some tests, the tests may not cancel immediately. During this time, the status of the tests will be 'canceling' until the test can reach a stopping point.
After testing has completed, the Retest button allows you to run the last set of tests that were executed again. This allows you to re-run the set of tests without having to go back to the test selection page.
Note: If you wish to retest only those devices that failed, perform a Custom test. You can specify the number of retries to perform in the parameter settings for each test.
The Status page also shows:
- The individual tests that are running.
- The overall elapsed time.
- The individual elapsed time for each test.
- The current condition status of each test.
Tests can have the following condition status:
- Waiting - The test is waiting for other tests to complete before running
- Running - The test is currently running
- Passed - The test is passed and device is operating within specifications
- Failed - The device failed the test or the test itself failed. The Status Tab also shows the errors and steps to be performed before the replacement of device.
- Canceling - The test has received a cancel command and is trying to find a stopping point
- Canceled - The test has been canceled and is no longer running
- Abnormal Termination - The test terminated abnormally
The progress and status of offline quick, complete or custom testing appears on Status Tab
Diagnose Status
In addition to above information,Diagnose Test Status also shows the following device-specific information:
