Installing Insight Diagnostics on Solaris Operating System
Installing Diagnostics
IMPORTANT: HP System Management Homepage must be installed on the system before you install diagnostics.
Insight Diagnostics is available as an .pkg file, for use with the package management facility, a standard package manager in Solaris. Following are the most commonly used package management commands:
- Pkgadd: Adds a package to the target system. Only root can run "pkgadd"
- Pkgrm: Removes an installed package from a target system
- Pkgchk: Checks a file to determine from which package it was installed. In case you suspect unauthorized modification of the file you can check which package an installed file was extracted from by using the pkgchk command.
- Pkginfo: -- list of installed packages
After obtaining the .pkg file, login as root and enter the following command to install the utility:
pkgadd -d ;
For example,
pkgadd -d HPQdiags-1.0.0-solaris10-i386.pkg
